Designing products that feel obvious in hindsight.

I'm Maya Okafor, a product designer based in Lagos working across fintech, climate, and creative tooling. I turn messy problems into interfaces people don't have to think about.

A bit of a generalist, on purpose

I started as a frontend developer, which means I design with constraints in mind — not as a limitation, but as the most interesting part of the brief.

Over the last seven years I've worked inside three startups and one design studio, mostly on products where trust is the whole game: money, climate data, farming livelihoods.

Outside of client work, I write a small newsletter on design systems and spend too much time rearranging my bookshelf by color.
